Is that ten? I am too RAF to actually interpret this into some semblance of a horoscope. Seems to me like this "predicts" I just like a lot of reggae and hiphop and I am trying to be cool by having some dubstep on my iPod but actually I always skip the tracks when they come on.
I think these questions of the day are a bit stupid.
So, there are some good things and some bad things.
Let's talk about the good things first. I thought I wasn't going to be teaching at the university this semester but, yay, now it looks like I will be. Someone has pulled out and I have their place. I am going to teach European History 1500-2000 to first years. I think this is hilarious. I am going to have to buy the textbook and read it because I haven't done any history from before 1860-ish for nearly ten years. I am delighted. Imagine. The chance to corrupt mould young minds. The power of being the all-knowing teacher. Tee hee.
Other good things. Last night and quite a lot of nights me and the Breakdancer have lain in bed 'til the wee hours just talking. It is like being on a permanent sleepover. We giggle. I told him all about the woman in my office whose voice is out of tune when she speaks. I hate it when she talks. He wanted to know what she's out of tune with. I thought about it. It can't just be me. We decided she was like the solo crow in a dawn chorus. Poor thing.
Yesterday I went to the gym and I ran on the treadmill for 20 minutes without stopping. I felt like a super-human. I have been to the gym 3 times in 2007. Go me. It helps that I row listening to classic rock, run listening to techno, and cross train while I watch the Simpsons.
Now for the bad things. Today I was running late so I caught the bus to Highbury and went into work on the tube. It's only two stops but by the time I surfaced I thought I was going to be sick or have a heart attack. When I was walking into the underground I felt the Fear. I'd not felt it so strong for a long time. I was convinced we would be blown up.
The other bad thing is global warming. Ah, that old chestnut. But suddenly we have no frosty Januarys. What's that about? Will it ever snow again? I am sitting in the office in just a t-shirt and jeans. Listen, Whoever, I want to be cold. But even the prime minister says he is too selfish to give up flying to his holidays so what hope have we got? I saw a picture of a polar bear standing on a very small piece of ice a few weeks ago and it made me well up. I know polar bears can swim, and that just a teaspoon of their liver contains enough Vitamin A to kill an Eskimo, but we like them, with their shaggy white coats and their big paws, and they need their icy lands to survive.
